Parking racks for Nottingham’s popular e-scooter trial are being installed throughout the city.

SuperPedestrian have worked alongside Nottingham City Council to identify hotspots in the city for high scooter use. Four racks have already been installed with two at Nottingham Train Station, one in Lenton and another at the University of Nottingham. A further six are to be deployed across the city.

The e-scooter operator teamed up with Standab, a Swedish design company, to create the racks which can hold up to six e-scooters. These racks have been designed through consultation with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to help partially sighted pedestrians navigate around the racks.

SuperPedestrian have added safety advice and e-scooter rules on the side of them to help users and non-users understand safe and responsible riding. This infrastructure, paid for by the operator, comes in to help tackle parking issues in the city with the hope that further will be added if proved to be successful.

Made from steel and aluminium, the durable design also features extended side panels to accommodate Superpedestrian’s industry leading e-scooters, which feature a longer wheelbase and sturdier construction

Cllr Audra Wynter (Lab), portfolio holder for transport at Nottingham City Council, said: “Throughout this e-scooter trial we’ve been really keen to listen carefully to feedback from the public about how we can potentially improve things.

“We really welcome the introduction of these docking stations as they will help to bring more order to E-scooter parking and keep pavements clear for all pedestrians.”
