Verotec is a leading European manufacturer of metal enclosures, racks and subracks for the electronics industry, with such well-known brands as the KM6 subrack, front panels and modules family, the Diplomat, LBX, Verotec Case and Total Access Case metal enclosures, integrated systems, a family of 19” rack cases, and the IMRAK rack range.

Our customers’ new product developments are supported by our huge library of standard metal enclosures, our advanced in-house CAD capability, CAM Manufacture, Assembly and Test that brings modified standard products to completion as quickly as possible, reducing project TTM.

Apart from the obvious product-related benefits of reduced lead times, enhanced capability and improved quality and repeatability, our advanced design and manufacturing systems provide additional intangible advantages for customers.

ArtCAM Express middleware allows customers to send Pro Eng, Solid Works, AutoCAD or PDF files of their modified products; these drawings are automatically translated into the standard MCR file format required to control the various production machines, avoiding any potential inaccuracies. A further benefit is that the data path from customer to machining centre is homogeneous, ensuring that ISO9001 traceability is preserved to allow batch traceability if required.

We have two 10-tool Datron M8Cube automated machining centres with a large 1020 x 830 x 245mm XYZ capability. One machine is fitted with vacuum clamps for large work pieces; the other with mechanical clamps to hold multiple smaller pieces.

The CAM cell can now simultaneously produce small modified front panels in high volumes and also larger panels that require many different sizes and shapes of aperture in a single monolithic piece of aluminium sheet. In addition, new Datron tooling enables high precision engraving of legends and logos. A linisher/brusher gives a uniform finish to front panels.

We have one of the first Trumpf TruPunch 1000 machines to be installed in the UK. It accepts standard 2.5 x 1.2 metre sheets up to 6.4mm thick and works at 600 strokes per minute. It produces very high-quality work.

The patented MultiShear slitting tool achieves mark-free separating cuts, with no troublesome nibbling marks, at speeds of up to 12m/minutes – ideal for creating long slots in large workpieces.

Also installed was a Trumpf TruBend Series 3000 100 tonne laser aligned bending machine, which provides improved accuracy through automatic stress compensation, as the workpiece is bent to the exact angle required. Both new machines are directly controlled from the CAD/CAM system, which has also been enhanced with additional hardware and software.

We have also recently installed an auto-feed Haeger 618MSPe inserter, which has dramatically speeded up the addition of nuts, studs and standoffs to sheet metal panels and enclosures.

We have invested in an eight-ink digital printer full-colour UV digital printer, which gives us a significant increase in our ability to enhance your product with eye-catching graphics and legends. Eight positions – the traditional four colour CMYK inks and clear, two whites and a primer – are used to achieve an impressive array of finishes. The primer ink, applied selectively to the required areas, provides excellent sharp results, combining smooth and textured finishes.

The unit has a maximum plan print size of 610 x 420 mm, so UV printing a full 9U 19" front panel is no problem at all. The clear ink allows selected areas or the complete surface to be finished with a high gloss, matte or embossed finish, greatly expanding the creative options for logos, backgrounds and legends.
